EMS LINKS POLICY

Purpose

It is a standard practice for World Wide Web pages to provide clickable links to other WWW pages. NAEMSE members and guest visitors (via the WWW) have an interest in linking and being linked to other organizations and resources. The purpose of this policy is to set guidelines for the selection and process by which another WWW site is selected and linked to the NAEMSE site.

Process for adding site links

If an organization or individual would like to be linked to our site they must send e-mail to naemse@naemse.org . If the office, in conjunction with the Executive Director determines that the link meets the pre-established selection criteria we will recommend/deny the link.

If the link is recommended the Web Master will create the link on the appropriate page.

If the link is not recommended the office will contact the person named as the contact for that site.

Selection Criteria for Non-profit/Organizational requests

The site to be linked must:

- Be related to EMS

- Not include any sexually explicit ("adult") content or links

- Be sponsored by a non-profit organization (no commercial links)

- Site to-be-linked must agree to provide a link to the NAEMSE site

NOTE: Requests from Commercial (for profit) companies that are not NAEMSE members or sponsors will be considered on a case-by-case basis. In general these types of links will require some form of payment, exchange of goods and/or services, and/or a formal relationship with NAEMSE. The Executive Director and/or President will consider requests in this category. The location, size, color(s) and other features of the link will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may require a specific contract.

Process for Members and Corporate Sponsors

A NAEMSE member can submit the URL address of a site to be linked in writing or via e-mail to naemse@naemes.org. If the site meets the pre-established selection criteria the link and the Web Master will activate the link.

Selection Criteria for Member requests

The criterion for approval of a link depends on the area of the NAEMSE web site that the link will fall into. The NAEMSE site will have the following areas with links:

1. EMS Associations

2. Corporate Sponsors

3. Resources for EMS Educators

4. Discussion Lists and Publications

5. Commercial Links

NOTE: Areas 3, 4 and 5 are password protected for members-only (require pre-approved/assigned member name and password).

NOTE: Members will be able to enter a single personal/professional URL in their "Member Profile" on the NAEMSE web based database without going through the process previously listed. NAEMSE reserves the right to remove a link that a member has listed on their personal data page if

a) it includes or links to sexually explicit ("adult") content,

b) is deemed by the board to be inappropriate by the majority of the board,

c) is commercial in nature and does not meet the pre-established criteria for commercial sites.

NAEMSE Process for the Removal of Link: The NAEMSE board reserves the right to remove any link at any time and without notice or reason. A link may be removed if its content no longer meets the selection criteria, or its content is out-dated or erroneous.

The president and/or executive director and/or Web Master have the authority to temporarily remove a link for any reason at any time and without notice, until a vote by the board can be obtained.

Members can request that a link be removed in writing (or via e-mail) and explain the reason for their request. The Web Chair reviews all requests for removal and a recommendation is forwarded to the full committee or board, only if necessary, for further action.

Web Page Alterations: The NAEMSE Web Master is the only individual authorized to make technical changes to the NAEMSE website.
