Would love to hear everyone's Zoom (or other) hacks to try and keep our students moving forward during our current crisis. So far we are learning each day.

1. Hook an iPad or phone up to your zoom session aim toward your manikin. During the skill demo feature that camera so it enlarges for the participants to see (and the instructor can watch themselves demo). Worked great for our OB instructor yesterday.

2. Use zoom to help proctor exam sessions. We will use our "skills" iPads, install the zoom app, and aim toward the student/computer screen. One instructor will still do "rounds" to physically look at the rooms while the other monitors the zoom session. (Students test in small groups - each student is screened as they enter the building and placed in a separate room and then the table/chair/device disinfected when they leave.)

3. Import a photo with a "scene" and choose that for the background of the presenter who is role-playing a patient.

Please.....looking for more ideas......I'm sure our students will help teach us some. Kim

I really like the idea of using a photo with a "scene"for scenarios! We have been utilizing the "breakout rooms" function for group work and also for scenarios. I create a "room" for each adjunct and rotate the students through just like we would in person.

We're not even allowed on campus to do proctored testing so we have been proctoring testing remotely through Zoom. We can only do one at a time but it can be going on while we're doing other work. We schedule a one-on-one meeting with the student. Once connected, we have them turn their camera to show us that their work area is free of any resources with which they could cheat. We then take remote control of their desktop, close all applications except Zoom and the testing platform, and then we type in the secure password to open the test, which they cannot see of course. We then give them back control of their desktop but continue to have their desktop view and a view of their face on our screen while they take the exam. If they are caught looking off in other directions or if anything pops up on their desktop, we can see it. We also record the session so we can go back and look it over if we get distracted or have to run the the little boy's room. Our faculty have divided up the students so we each proctor several exams a day while doing our other work. Not a perfect system but it seems to be working.

I have created some 360 videos that allow you to look all over the room or environment for your scene size up and creating a general first impression of your patient. You are more than welcome to use any of these videos, I am working on making more videos for more scenarios.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW7YhM2xzUU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vAK_dBOJkY&t=15s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28fB7SuFycs&t=15s

I have also included links I made that they can scan a QR code to see specific things on the scene like pill bottles or the wound.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y7ULSiGBbzmkpUzHvk_q1X-XZQEMEG40Vb4NetYMHNA/edit?usp=sharing
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M_LeKQcxyf7jjlb5jSUY6ctXEp8J2bTBw3w0nv4fCx4/edit?usp=sharing

I have incorporated these elements plus pre-recorded iSimulate vitals and compiled them all into one video that makes for a dynamic scenario.
