Call for Presentations 2020




The National Association of EMS Educators Educational Symposium is the premier event for Emergency Medicine Educators. Each year, educators present a wide array of educational sessions, along with research papers and educational posters. Any Emergency Medicine Professional with an interest in emergency medicine or educational research are invited to submit session proposals for the 2020 conference.

This is an opportunity to share effective models, policies, research and to provide your colleagues with insights and best practices addressing many of issues that are faced in the classroom and community.

 The entry deadline is the end of the day (midnight) January 3, 2020. All applications should be completed through the form at the bottom of this page.

The annual symposium is the ONLY national educator’s conference created for anyone with an interest in EMS education.  We focus on strengthening the skills of new and established instructors in the field of Emergency Medical Services. Our participants include Pre-EMS providers, training officers, educational professionals, managers, and directors of training programs in the EMS arena. The association likes to offer a wide range of sessions at symposium that meet the diverse needs of EMS attendees, so we invite proposals from all levels of experience on all topics related to the EMS educator. This portal of learning offers a broad array of resources and services, such as forums, breakout sessions, general sessions, and panel discussions. Learning portals for this symposium have come to include classroom management, leadership, administrative issues, simulation and technology.  

 

Presentation Submission Information and General Instructions

  1. Submissions must meet all the requirements of the category. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. We encourage you to submit multiple proposals for review. If selected by the NAEMSE Program Committee, presenters may be asked to present multiple times.  
  2. Submissions must be received no later than the end of the day January 3, 2020 (midnight).
  3. Do not submit a paper submission. Only electronic abstracts will be accepted via the online form below.
  4. Notification of acceptance will be sent out in March 2020.
  5. Presenters are not permitted to market, endorse or promote the sale of market products or services in their presentations; exhibit space is available for that purpose.
  6. The standard audio/visual equipment provided by NAEMSE includes LCD projectors, screens and podium microphones. Computers, phone line/internet connections, or other A/V equipment will NOT be provided. You must bring your personal laptop for the presentation.
  7. Breakout Sessions are 60 minutes in length.

NAEMSE Symposium submissions are peer-reviewed by Program Committee members who perform a blind review on all submissions with rankings within a category.  All submissions receiving high review scores are then approved by the members of the Program Committee to be presented at the symposium.

 

Submission Instructions

 

Complete the submission application process below, filling in all required (*) information as stated. You must submit two (2) presentations in order to be considered. Please make sure ALL areas have been filled in (where necessary) for more accurate review and consideration.

 

Complete the submission application form accompanying this Call for Presentations.

All applications must contain:

Presenter's name and contact information

Presentation title

Type of presentation (lecture, panel, hands on demonstration, etc)

Concise (150 words) description of the session - be specific and say precisely what you offer. This may be edited for clarity and length prior to publishing in the brochure.

Three learning objectives

Submit a short biography (current biographical information most important to selection committee, no more than 75 words)

Please attach a copy of your curriculum vitae (CV) to this application

PLEASE NOTE: A SEPARATE SUBMISSION IS REQUIRED FOR EACH PRESENTATION

 

Selection Criteria

 

A clear description of the content of the presentation, including the goals and objectives

How well the session fits into the overall balance of the program (i.e. target audience, content, new and repeated sessions, similar sessions, etc.)

Evidence of presenter’s experience/expertise

Absence of sales pitch for products or services. We will not consider proposals that include sales pitches. All presenters must complete a Conflict of Interest statement if selected for conference.

Members of NAEMSE will receive additional consideration over non-members.

Presenters submitting multiple presentations will receive additional consideration over presenters submitting one presentation.

Potential value/impact of research or developments

Originality

Style, Clarity, Length, Etc.
